Painting New Plaster
We usually say to allow for 5-7 days for gypsum based plasters to dry out. You can help this process along by leaving windows open slightly to help with the release of moisture.
We do not tend to over polish our work as we think that paint can sometimes struggle to adhere to it and this is a modern technique that leaves an Inferior finish in the end, we usue the classic motto of flat and matte.
The walls can be sanded a little to help with the paint adhereing.
When painting over bare plaster, it is essential that a mist coat is applied. This is normal emulsion paint you would buy but you just add a little water (usually says on the side of the tub how much) then apply to the surfaces and it will help with suction and and proceeding layers.
Start with the corners and angles with a finer brush, known as cutting in. Then proceed as normal using a wide roller with your normal paint.
